Dear SMS Families,

Welcome back to our returning families, teachers, and staff!

To our incoming 6th graders and new families:  Welcome to the SMS Community! We are so excited to have you. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer, recharged, and is ready for the new school year.

At SMS, our PTA focuses on creating and developing a strong school community and support system by guiding new families, providing parents with volunteer opportunities throughout the school, and offering other exciting events/programs.  We look forward to strengthening the tremendous partnerships we have established with the Board of Education, Administration, our amazing teachers, and our invaluable staff to provide an unparalleled learning experience for our children. 

Of course, we cannot do this alone, so please join and support our PTA. While the school budget pays for academics, PTA dues help support all of the additional programming and elements that enhance the SMS experience, such as the annual Author Visit, Cultural Heritage Night, Relay for Life field day, etc. While becoming a member of the PTA primarily benefits our children, you’ll also assist in making positive changes by exchanging ideas and meaningfully engaging with our diverse group of parents and teachers.  Your participation in our Association meetings offers even more opportunities to voice your opinions and share your concerns.  

Please note these upcoming important dates to mark on your calendar:

• September 3:  SMS Open House - 6:30 PM

• September 17  & 18:  Photo Days

• September 25:  Parents who are new to the Great Neck District - 10 AM 

• October 8:  PTA General Meeting 7 PM - Virtual Meeting
